A gunman fired an assault rifle Tuesday evening at deputies in Compton, authorities said.
No injuries were reported from the shooting that occurred shortly before 6 p.m near East Pine Street and North Santa Fe Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
One suspect was detained as deputies swarmed the area and were searching Tuesday night for a second suspect. No other details were immediately available.
[Updated 9:13 p.m.: Two suspects were apprehended, and an AK-47 was recovered, authorities said.]
