Norwalk slaying suspect arrested after standoff in Anaheim

The suspect in a killing in Norwalk has been arrested after a standoff with authorities in Anaheim, authorities said.

Andrew Ramos, 28, was arrested Wednesday evening. He is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail.

Officials said Ramos is a suspect in a Jan. 2 slaying. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded that day at about 4 a.m. to a call of gunshots fired in the 14000 block of Gard Avenue. They found the victim in a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He had been shot several times, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Media reports have identified him as Jimmy Deleon-Hernandez, 31.

Anaheim police Sgt. Michael Bustamante said that sheriff’s detectives Wednesday tried to serve search and arrest warrants at a townhouse in the 1200 block of La Palma Avenue at about 4 p.m., but Ramos refused to come out.

Anaheim police, using a bullhorn, were able to persuade Ramos to give himself up two or three hours later.
