A two-mile stretch of La Cienega Boulevard in Baldwin Hills was reopened Wednesday morning after crews repaired the asphalt that caused the street to buckle, officials said.
The road was shut down in both directions between Rodeo Road and Slauson Boulevard shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. The buckling was first noticed when an officer drove over a bump and stopped to inspect the pavement, officials said.
Previously, there had been a repair on the water main in that area, said Jane Galbraith, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
She said the soil underneath the asphalt caused the street to buckle, but that there had not been a main break and customers did not lose water service.
