Spray-painted duck illustrates how stupid some fans can be

Here’s another one for the Fans Acting Stupid file: A mallard duck was found in Oregon on Wednesday with its feet bound together by duct tape and its feathers spray painted orange, no doubt a cruel side effect of the intrastate hysteria some fans embraced heading into Thursday’s Pac-10 showdown between Oregon and Oregon State.

The duck was found on the campus of a community college in Albany, Ore., and workers at a local animal hospital said the paint had destroyed the water-repellent qualities of the duck’s feathers. The duck also may have ingested paint.

Police are still searching for the those responsible.
