The City Section Division I softball playoffs opened Tuesday with several upsets.
No. 12 Birmingham defeated No. 5 San Fernando, 5-3, in eight innings.Lesley Segura had three hits. She had a double to tie the game in the seventh and added a two-run double in the eighth. Tallie Woodson struck out seven to win her 19th game.
No. 13 Narbonne upset No. 4 Lincoln, 3-2.
No. 1 Banning defeated Grant, 8-3. No. 9 Kennedy defeated No. 8 Garfield, 10-2. No. 3 Carson defeated No. 14 Marshall, 14-1. No. 6 Chatsworth defeated No. 11 Hamilton, 15-0. No. 10 San Pedro defeated No. 7 Granada Hills, 2-1. No. 2 El Camino Real defeated No. 15 Palisades, 8-0.
