COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Homers Help Cypress Beat Saddleback in Softball

Tricia Barr and Nikkani Andrews each hit two-run home runs for Cypress in a 6-1 victory over Saddleback in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Wednesday at Saddleback.

Cypress is 28-9 and 8-1 in the conference. Kim Greeny had two hits and scored a run for host Saddleback (3-14, 1-9).

In other Orange Empire Conference softball:

Golden West 3, Rancho Santiago 0--Golden West’s Stephanie Viola (5-4) pitched a two-hitter, allowing only singles in the first and seventh innings. Rancho Santiago is 1-9, 7-13.

In South Coast Conference men’s volleyball:

Orange Coast 3, Grossmont 0--Lance Lyons had 14 kills and only three errors and Matt Winterburn had eight kills and 29 assists for Orange Coast (13-3, 10-3).

Golden West 3, Mt. San Antonio 0--Darren Lance had 12 kills and Doug Partis had 10 for visiting Golden West (9-6, 8-5).
