Bang, It’s a Hoax: Police rushed to a radio station in Providence, R.I., after it reported on the air that one of its controversial talk show hosts had been shot--but it was a hoax. WALE fired three people, including talk-show host Steve White, after Tuesday’s incident. Police are considering whether to bring any charges. The incident began when the station went off the air to repair its transmitter. White asked a station reporter to announce when they returned to the air that White had been shot in the head while stepping outside to smoke a cigarette.
