CAMARILLO : School Parking Lot to Be Developed
- Share via
A former Camarillo High School parking lot will be developed for commercial use under a plan approved Wednesday by Oxnard Union High School District trustees.
The district plans to seek a business partner for the project.
The 3.76-acre vacant parcel, across Mission Oaks Boulevard from the school and near the intersection with Adolfo Road, is a former parking area for students’ cars that was recently replaced by a newer lot, district officials said.
A committee appointed by trustees in May recommended that the district seek a developer for a joint-venture partnership to develop the corner parcel. The nine-member committee included board members Steve Stocks and Jean Daily, district Business Manager Robert Brown, Camarillo High teacher and activities director Linda Ayerza, and local business representatives.
The board on Wednesday declared the parcel surplus and approved sending out a request for proposals to prospective developers.
