Michael Landon

In response to “TV Actor Michael Landon Is Dead at 54,” Part B, July 2:
I was assistant to the producer of the new writer’s program at NBC in 1984-85. We submitted scripts written by unknown writers to every major producer in the entertainment industry. Michael Landon was the only one who responded. He gave up his lunch hour, while he was filming “Highway To Heaven,” to talk to our new writer, giving him suggestions and encouragement. He also purchased the script.
Our young writer reported back to us that he couldn’t have been treated with more enthusiasm and respect by Mr. Landon.
I will always remember that Michael Landon was the only one who cared.
