American Sandra Farmer-Patrick set a 1991 world best of 53.54 seconds for the women’s 400-meter hurdles at a meet in Nice, France. Liz McColgan of Britain also set a world best, 8:38.23 in the women’s 3,000 meters. American 100-meter world record holder Leroy Burrell won the 200 in 20.50.
