California IN BRIEF : SONORA : Rare Falcons Seen in National Forests

Two peregrine falcons found in remote areas of the Stanislaus and Sequoia national forests are believed to be the first of that endangered species seen in a national forest along the Sierra Nevada in years. A peregrine falcon expert, Lee Aulman, first saw one of the birds of prey in the Donnells Reservoir area of the Stanislaus forest on June 12. Two weeks later, he saw a peregrine Sequoia National Forest.
