Prayers at Public Meetings

The Platform (“God in Government,” July 7) from Fullerton Councilman A.B. (Buck) Catlin begs a response. Since when has “adherence to ecumenical principles” united any community in a manner which cuts across denominational lines? Rather, the mixture of God and government causes many members of minority religions and denominations to experience acute discomfort (albeit many times in silence).
Further, for those who do not believe in any god, must they be civic pariahs for their views?
