NEWPORT BEACH : Annual Boat Parade Is Going Hollywood

More than 100 wildly decorated boats will glide through Newport Harbor Sunday during the 31st annual Character Boat Parade.
The flotilla, sponsored by the Newport Harbor Chamber of Commerce, will start at noon and wind down about 3:30 p.m. The Loose Screw, Suavest Swab, Big Toot, Grand Ancient Mariners and other awards will go to those with the best-decorated boat, costume and sound. The parade’s theme is “Newport Goes Hollywood.”
A barbecue at the American Legion Hall, 15th Street and Bay Front, will follow the festival. For further information, call (714) 644-8211.
