SAN DIEGO — An 11-year-old boy was killed and his great-grandmother was wounded by a gunman who fired through a metal security door at the boy’s house after asking to see someone else.
Dwayne Maurice Gilbert was shot in the chest and wrist and died at his home about 10 p.m. Thursday, San Diego Police Lt. Dan Berglund said.
The child’s great-grandmother, Marguerie Hitchens, 79, had answered the door while Dwayne stood behind her, Berglund said. She had opened the inside door, but kept the black metal mesh door shut, he said.
