Infielder Dmitri Young of Rio Mesa High in Oxnard, St. Louis’ first-round pick in the June amateur draft, signed with the Cardinals. Young will report to the Cardinals’ rookie league team in Johnson City, Tenn. . . . San Francisco Giant reliever Dave Righetti’s wife, Kandice, gave birth to triplets, Nicollette Lee, Natalie Paige and Wesley David. . . . Pitcher Dave Stieb of the Toronto Blue Jays has a herniated disk that is causing sciatica, club officials said. Stieb, who has not pitched since May 22, is not expected to pitch again until late in the season.
