Death of Roger Revelle
The July 16 article about Roger Revelle (“Roger Revelle, Founder of UCSD, Is Dead at 82”) quoted him as saying, “I don’t believe in God . . .” The last paragraph in the article stated that a memorial service would be held at La Jolla Presbyterian Church.
He didn’t believe in God; why was the memorial service held in a church? Why wasn’t it held in an auditorium at the Scripps Institution (of Oceanography) or some other secular location? Isn’t that offensive to his beliefs?
