Legislature OKs Budget, Taxes
Congratulations, Legislature. Now California has almost the highest sales tax in the nation. Our elected officials again chose to ignore the voice of the people they were chosen to represent.
Billions in non-essential spending were plainly identified, and could have closed the budget gap without any new or imaginative tax schemes. What did we get?
The taxpayer is fed up with the three-ring circus in Sacramento--the message of Proposition 140. Simply put, we can no longer afford the inexorable, upward spiral in government spending. Just as we must live within our means, so must government. Tax hikes and DMV fee increases are not acceptable.
The Legislature must act now to roll back these increases and restore fiscal responsibility in government spending. At what point do taxpayers revolt?
