SPI Pharmaceuticals Inc.: The Costa Mesa-based prescription pharmaceutical company reported that net income for the 1992 third quarter increased 15% to $9.7 million, or 53 cents a share, from $8.4 million, or 48 cents a share, in the 1991 third quarter. Sales dropped nearly 8%, to $95 million from $103 million. The company attributed the decline to a slowdown in its Yugoslavia operations. Net income for the first nine months of 1992 was $25.6 million, or $1.43 a share, up 42% from $18 million, or $1.05 a share, for the same period in 1991. Sales increased 74%, to $366.6 million from $210.1 million.
