ROUNDUP : Edison Wins Sunset League Cross-Country

Edison’s Elyse Homberger finished first in the Sunset League girls’ cross-country finals, leading the Chargers, the No. 1-ranked team in Orange County, to a three-point victory in the team competition.
Edison placed six runners among the top 10, edging Ocean View, 31-34. Fountain Valley finished third with 92 points.
Homberger finished the three-mile course at Central Park in 18 minutes 18 seconds. Ocean View’s Christy Bradshaw finished second in 18:43 and Kim Foster of Fountain Valley was third in 18:47.
At the Sunset League boys’ cross-country finals:
Santa Ana wins--Federico Duran won the race, covering the three miles at Central Park in 15:34 to lead Santa Ana, ranked eighth in the county. The Saints, who had 27 points, finished with five runners among the top 10.
Ben Flamm, who was second in 15:35, and Dan Vielma, who placed third in 16:14, helped Huntington Beach to a second-place finish with 34 points. Edison was third with 106 points.
In nonleague water polo:
Capistrano Valley 9, Marina 5--Jeremy Braxton-Brown scored six goals to lead Capistrano Valley (25-2), the second-ranked team in Orange County, at Golden West College.
Jeff Moloughney added two goals for the Cougars, who trailed, 3-2, after one period but outscored Marina, 4-0, in the second quarter to take command.
Jon Kenyon and Paul Liegeois each scored two goals for Marina (17-10), the Sunset League runner-up. Capistrano Valley finished second in the South Coast League to El Toro, the No. 1-ranked team in the county.
