Potential injuries and heavy damage were headed off Monday at the Holiday Inn in Ventura when two employees quickly put out a small fire that started in a storage room, officials said.
A maintenance worker and a bellman found smoke pouring into the second floor of the 12-story hotel about 3:15 p.m. and extinguished the flames within 10 minutes, said Stanton D. Jacobs, the hotel’s general manager.
The Holiday Inn recently submitted plans to install sprinklers in the 22-year-old structure in compliance with a recent city ordinance, Jacobs said.
