IRVINE : Medical Center to Host ‘Perfect’ Talk
- Share via
The Irvine Medical Center will sponsor a free lecture and book signing on Nov. 18 by psychologist Steven J. Hendlin, author of a book on combatting perfectionism.
Hendlin will discuss how unproductive perfectionist tendencies differ from simply striving for excellence, and some techniques perfectionists can use to avoid the tendency toward compulsive work and the feelings of inadequacy that erupt when circumstances turn out less than perfectly.
Hendlin, a staff psychologist at the medical center, recently published a book that identifies perfectionist “traps,” including parents wishing to create a “perfect” child, working for a perfectionist boss and perfectionists looking for an ideal spouse.
The program will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the medical center. For information, directions or to reserve seats, call (800) 262-6210.
