CS Northridge Honors Calvin, Swalec

Ivy Calvin and Shelly Swalec have been named Cal State Northridge’s male and female athletes of the month for October.

Calvin, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior outside linebacker, is the Matadors’ leader on defense. He was named the Western Football Conference defensive player of the week after registering 11 tackles and blocking an extra-point attempt in CSUN’s 42-18 win over Santa Clara on Oct. 17.

Swalec, a 5-10 senior outside hitter, was an all-tournament selection at the Northridge invitational on Oct. 30-31 after setting tournament marks for total blocks (26) and block assists (23).
