Simi Valley : Gas Leak Causes Fire; 5 Acres Burn

A fire ignited by fuel that spilled from a pickup truck’s ruptured gasoline line consumed five acres of heavy brush in a remote area southeast of Simi Valley on Friday, fire officials said.
It took 186 firefighters from the Ventura County, Los Angeles County and Rocketdyne fire departments--and workers with the California Department of Forestry--to contain the blaze, which was reported at 1:54 p.m. and was contained at 3:56 p.m., said Vicki Crabtree, Ventura County Fire Department spokeswoman.
The fire, in the area of Black Canyon and Woolsey Canyon roads, was caused by the leaking fuel, which was ignited by the truck’s exhaust, Crabtree said.
No injuries were reported, Crabtree said.
