SAN DIEGO — San Diego State punter Scott Oatsvall lost consciousness on the sideline Saturday night and stopped breathing for two minutes before being resuscitated and taken to a hospital, the school’s head athletic trainer said.
Oatsvall, who had complained of back and abdominal pains, was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital, trainer Brian Barry said. Oatsvall remained conscious after trainers and team doctors performed CPR on the sideline late in the fourth quarter of San Diego State’s game against Hawaii, Barry said.
Oatsvall was in stable but guarded condition, Mercy Hospital spokesman Michael Cahill said.
