Campbell Tries Its Soup in China: Camden, N.J.-based Campbell Soup Co. has begun selling soup and broth in China, trying to capture a market of 1.2 billion people accustomed to homemade. “With its massive population, its rapid rate of economic growth and its love for soup, China presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Robert Subin, president of Campbell Europe-Asia. Separately, U.S. toy retailer Toys R Us said it may set up one of its giant stores in Shenzhen. The store would be set up in cooperation with the Hong Kong trading company Li & Fung. The firm’s stores in Hong Kong are operated in a joint venture with Li & Fung.
