Top in Pop: A lot of people went to the Zoo this year. U2’s Zoo TV tour took in a whopping $63.8 million (for 67 shows) to become the most money-making pop group in concert earnings in 1992 so far. According to estimates from the trade magazine Performance, Metallica was the second highest-grossing band with $32.3 million for 53 shows, Guns N’ Roses was third with $29.1 million for 36 shows, and next was Grateful Dead with $27 million for 45 shows. Neil Diamond ranked No. 5 with $25.8 million for 63 shows. The totals are based on 98% of this year’s box-office grosses for each group.
