But in 1910 the Martin company was just getting off the ground in a pasture in Santa Ana. . . . That’s where aviation pioneer Glenn Martin made his first powered flight in a plane he built in a church basement. Martin’s company prospered, then moved to L.A., Cleveland and Baltimore to be closer to buyers.
