Thirteen Carolina Panther and Oakland Raider players were fined a total of $54,500 by the NFL on Thursday for their roles in a fight in Sunday’s game.
Raiders defensive tackles Chester McGlockton, fined $17,500, and Russell Maryland, fined $5,000, were both ejected after the fight, which came with 2:36 left in the Panthers’ 38-14 victory.
Four other Raiders were fined between $1,000 and $2,500, and seven Panthers were fined between $1,000 and $7,500.
Defensive end Darrell Russell of the Raiders also was fined $5,000, cornerback Calvin Branch and safety Eric Turner were fined $2,500 and cornerback Perry Carter was fined $1,000.
Center Frank Garcia drew a $7,500 fine, the largest fine for a Panther. Fined $2,500 apiece were Carolina tackle Blake Brockermeyer, quarterback Kerry Collins, guard Norberto Davidds-Garrido, halfback Fred Lane and guard Greg Skrepenak. Wide receiver Raghib Ismail was fined $1,000.
The incident happened when Lane, who rushed for club records of 147 yards and three touchdowns, was hit by Maryland after a whistle and Garcia took offense, setting off a series of fights along the sideline.
