Business Group’s CEO Resigns Post

Douglas A. Yavanian, executive director of the Greater Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, has resigned.
Chamber officials said that Yavanian, who has headed the organization since July 1996, wants to be closer to his family in Riverside County.
“This was a particularly difficult decision for me because the chamber is on the upswing,” Yavanian said. “However, household and family needs are a priority and require my closer attention. A lot of good things are coming together, and I hate to leave with so much momentum in front of the chamber.”
Chamber President Florence P. LaManno credited Yavanian with increasing the organization’s membership and opening the group’s downtown Oxnard headquarters.
“We’re real disappointed to see him leave,” she said.
LaManno said chamber officials have begun a search for a new CEO and aim to name a replacement within four months.
