Kennedy Wins on Late Kick

Ramiro Esqueda kicked a 30-yard field goal as time expired to lift Kennedy High to a 17-15 victory over San Fernando in a Northwest Valley Conference game Friday night at Kennedy.
San Fernando (5-4, 3-3 in conference play) rallied from an 11-point deficit by scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Bryson Atkins scored on a one-yard run with 2:03 to play to give the Tigers a 15-14 lead.
Kennedy (6-3, 4-2) started its game-winning drive at its own 30-yard line. Quarterback Ray Rodriguez marched the Golden Cougars to the San Fernando 14, completing two passes for 15 yards and rushing three times for 35 yards.
Kennedy’s Jason Jones ran one yard for a touchdown to cap Kennedy’s first possession. Jones rushed for 101 yards in 17 carries.
Rodriguez’s four-yard touchdown pass to Jason Newman extended Kennedy’s lead to 14-3 in the third quarter.
