The Seminoles had nine sacks and Thad Busby threw for two touchdowns as they clinched at least a tie for the ACC championship. It was also a nice birthday present for Coach Bobby Bowden, who turned 68.Next: Wake Forest

The Wolverines held the Nittany Lions to 38 total yards in the first half and Brian Griese threw two touchdown passes, one to two-way standout Charles Woodson, as they jumped out to a 24-0 halftime lead. Next: at Wisconsin
5) NORTH CAROLINA (8-1) LOST TO FLORIDA ST., 20-3.
Tar Heel quarterback Oscar Davenport got off to a bad start with a fumble and interception in the first two series. It got worse as he was sacked seven times and had to leave because of an ankle injury. Next: at Clemson
6) WASHINGTON (7-2) LOST TO OREGON, 31-28.
The Huskies, playing without quarterback Brock Huard and leading rusher Rashaan Shehee, overcame a 21-point deficit but lost on Aliki Smith’s touchdown pass to Pat Johnson with 2:33 left.Next: at UCLA
7) OHIO STATE (9-1) BEAT MINNESOTA, 31-3.
Joe Germaine again came off the bench to lead the Buckeyes to victory, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Ohio State plays Michigan in two weeks in what could be a showdown for the Big Ten championship. Next: Illinois
8) TENNESSEE (7-1) BEAT SOUTHERN MISS., 44-20.
Peyton Manning, coming off one of the worst statistical games of his career, threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score. The Volunteers scored on five straight possessions after trailing, 13-6.Next: at Arkansas

The Bulldogs had a week to savor their sweetest victory in some time--a 37-17 victory over the hated Florida Gators and Steve Spurrier--and now it’s time for the SEC East co-leaders to get back to business. Next: Auburn

Michael Bishop threw three touchdown passes and Gerald Neasman scored on kickoff and interception returns as the Wildcats defeated their state rivals for the fifth straight year. Next: Colorado
12) IOWA (6-3) LOST TO WISCONSIN, 13-10.
The Badgers ended an 18-game winless streak against the Hawkeyes despite losing standout tailback Ron Dayne to a sprained ankle on the game’s first drive. Iowa’s Tavian Banks had 145 yards in 20 carries.Next: at Northwestern

Noah Brindise threw two touchdown passes in his first start as Steve Spurrier his earned his 100th victory as Florida coach. The Gators failed to score a touchdown in the second half for the first time this season. Next: at South Carolina
14) LSU (7-2) BEAT ALABAMA, 27-0.
Kevin Faulk rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns and defensive tackle Chuck Wiley recovered a fumble for a touchdown for the Tigers in their second-biggest win over the Crimson Tide in 102 years.Next: Notre Dame
15) ARIZONA STATE (7-2) BEAT CALIFORNIA, 28-21.
J.R. Redmond caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Kealy and ran five yards for another score as the defending Pacific 10-champion Sun Devils won their fourth straight game. Next: Oregon
16) WASHINGTON ST. (8-1) BEAT SW LOUISIANA, 77-7
The Cougars led 35-0 after one quarter and 56-0 at halftime while outgaining the Ragin’ Cajuns 403 yards to 30. Ryan Leaf passed for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the first half.Next: Stanford

The Tigers had a week to try to figure out a way to jump-start a running game that has had minus-yardage in two of the last three games. Still, with a little help from its SEC friends, Auburn can win the West division. Next: at Georgia

The Rockets, averaging 468.6 yards and 35 points a game, managed only 218 yards and had three turnovers. Their first five possessions ended in a missed field goal attempt, two punts, an interception and a fumble.Next: Akron

The Bulldogs have made one of college football’s biggest turnarounds. They have gone from a 47-0 drubbing against Georgia on Oct. 4 to a 20-0 shocker of Auburn last Saturday and a top 25 appearance.Next: at Alabama

Ken Oxendine ran for 147 yards and Pierson Prioleau intercepted a two-point conversion pass with 1:48 remaining for the Hokies, who can win the Big East title with a victory in its next game.Next: at Pittsburgh, Nov. 22
21) TEXAS A&M; (7-2) BEAT BAYLOR, 38-10.
Branndon Stewart passed for three touchdowns and a season-high 231 yards as the Aggies stayed in the driver’s seat in the Big 12 South division. Stewart led scoring drives of 80, 67, and 98 yards.Next: at Oklahoma
22) SYRACUSE (7-3) BEAT BOSTON COLLEGE, 20-13.
Donovan McNabb teamed with Kevin Johnson for a 66-yard touchdown pass play early in the fourth quarter, leading the Orangemen to their sixth straight win. Syracuse had beaten its previous five opponents by 236-39.Next: at Pittsburgh
23) PURDUE (7-2) BEAT MICHIGAN STATE, 22-21.
Ed Watson rushed for a season-high 115 yards, including a three-yard run for the winning touchdown with 40 seconds left as the Boilermakers scored twice in the last two minutes.Next: Penn State
