HomeBase Inc.: The Irvine home improvement warehouse chain reported a third-quarter net loss of $10.3 million, or 27 cents a share, which included a $27-million charge related largely to the closing of three stores. Net income a year ago was $16 million, or 49 cents a share. Sales for the three months ended Oct. 25 rose slightly to $368.4 million from $366.4 million. For the nine-month period, net income was $15.1 million, or 42 cents a share, compared with net income of $51.2 million, or 1.54 a share, for the first three quarters of the prior year. Sales were flat at $1.1 billion.
