* The New York City Ballet’s annual production of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” takes the stage Nov. 28-Jan. 4 at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 65th Street, (212) 307-4100.
* “The Lion King,” the new musical adapted from the 1994 film of the same name, opens today at the New Amsterdam Theatre, 214 W. 42nd St., (212) 307-4100.
* Paul Simon’s musical “The Capeman” opens Jan. 8 at the Marquis Theatre, 1535 Broadway, (212) 307-4100.
* At the Music Box Theatre, Natalie Portman stars in a theatrical version of “The Diary of Anne Frank,” written by Frances Goodrich. Opens Dec. 4. 239 W. 45th St., (212) 239-6200.
* “Gianni Versace,” a tribute to the late designer who united the worlds of fashion and pop culture. Dec. 11-March 22 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street, (212) 535-7710. The museum’s annual presentation of Christmas Tree and Neopolitan Baroque Creche begins Nov. 29. Lighting ceremonies are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7.
