Officials Vote to Examine School District Formation
- Share via
Signal Hill has hired a consultant to assist its school district formation committee in determining whether the city could support a school district.
The Sage Institute will work with the 11-member committee in preparing a feasibility report on the city withdrawing from the Long Beach Unified School District to form a district in Signal Hill.
“The committee will look at the financial viability, facilities, programs we could offer and the impact on the Long Beach school district,” said City Manager Ken Farfsing.
Some residents of the 2.5-square-mile city in the middle of Long Beach are upset with the Long Beach district’s decision to locate a remedial school for middle school students in Signal Hill.
