Bob Dole: Did He or Didn’t He?

It’s Washington’s latest mystery: Did Bob Dole have plastic surgery? He isn’t talking about it, but others are. “If he had a face-lift, there’s no sign of it,” said Russ Townsley, a close Kansas friend since 1947 who saw Dole a few months ago. “I think I know Bob well enough.” But Maureen Dowd, in the New York Times, went so far as to say the real question wasn’t whether he did it but why. Her answer: so he can help wife Elizabeth win the presidency and thus get to the White House after all. Townsley added that he couldn’t imagine Dole, 74, who had major surgeries for World War II injuries, going under the knife again.
