Public Meeting Set on Splitting 310 Area Code
- Share via
Residents will have the opportunity to suggest alternatives to adding a new area code to portions of Los Angeles County now served by the 310 area code Monday when the California Code Administration begins a weeklong series of public meetings in Torrance.
Fax machines, pagers, cellular phones and modems have increased the need for phone numbers across the county. Officials anticipate that a new area code will be needed by early 1999.
Monday’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, 3330 Civic Center Drive. Additional meetings will be held at noon Tuesday in the Community Room at Inglewood City Hall, 1 Manchester Blvd.; 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Culver City Council chambers, 9770 Culver Blvd.; and 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wyndham Belage Hotel, 1020 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood.
