OXNARD — A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after a drive-by shooting left him wounded in the abdomen, Oxnard police said.
The Oxnard youth was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where his condition was still being evaluated Friday night, a nursing supervisor said.
The victim and three others were on the 2400 block of Saviers Road at 6:06 p.m. when someone in a passing car shouted at them, Officer Robin Brunson said.
The car made a U-turn and a man got out and fired several shots at the group, Brunson said.
After he was hit, the teenager stumbled into a nearby hair salon, from where police and an ambulance were called, Brunson said. Police were searching for the gunman Friday night.
When police arrived on the scene, the three people who were with the victim when he was shot had left, authorities said.
