Friendly in France

I would like to add to the ongoing commentary concerning the “French attitude.”
My wife and I recently returned from a very pleasant two-week vacation in France. We traveled by air, high-speed train, taxi, rental car and, of course, on foot. Everyone was polite, friendly and helpful. Passersby stopped to assist us. Even though I speak almost no French and they spoke no English, we managed to communicate.
Based on my experiences, I think it’s time to bury the old stereotype of the aloof French.
