Murray Delivers Hundreds of Turkeys for Holiday

A few hundred frozen turkeys found homes Thursday when state Assemblyman Kevin Murray (D-Los Angeles) traversed his district as part of a pre-Thanksgiving event dubbed “Operation Gobble.”
From Culver City to the Crenshaw district, Murray gave out 50 donated turkeys at each of 11 stops across the 47th Assembly District he represents, said Joey Hill, Murray’s chief of staff.
Two water companies--California America Water and Southern California Water--donated the turkeys for the program, now in its third year.
Sites visited during the daylong event included churches, senior citizen centers and Dorsey High School.
Jean Tabner, manager of the 48-unit Culver City Senior Housing facility, said many residents bring the free turkeys they receive through Murray’s program to their families for the holiday.
“They’re proud they can contribute something. . . . They really appreciate it,” she said.
