Orange Coast College will offer tours of its large aquariums, which feature kelp, a tide pool, a rocky reef and octopus tank, at a Dec. 6 open house.
The college’s marine science department recently spruced up the tanks with new paint and glass, making it easier for visitors to view sea life.
Combined, the aquariums contain more than 1,500 gallons of water.
Elaborate filtration systems remove, filter, sterilize, chill or warm and detoxify the water every hour.
The open house is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on campus, 2701 Fairview Road. Information: (714) 432-0202, Ext. 22562.
