Send In the Cash You Save, Soroptimists Say

Soroptimist International of Garden Grove is holding a fund-raiser, but it doesn’t want you to come. Members don’t want you to buy a new dress, rent a tuxedo, hire a baby sitter or buy a ticket.
Instead, the charitable organization is asking supporters to donate some of the money they save by not going to the event. The Soroptimists support Hearts United Grandparents/Grandchildren and the Hotline of Southern California.
“We usually hold an annual dinner dance, which requires people to spend money on tuxedos, dresses, costumes, baby sitters, tickets and silent-auction items,” said Kathy Moore, chair of the group’s ways and means committee. “This year we decided to give our friends a break--all they need to do is send a portion of the money they saved by not attending our event.”
Suggested donations range from $25 for not renting a costume to $150 for not having to join a diet plan.
