GOTTA DANCE

I was thrilled to read Lewis Segal’s commentary “After Doolittle: A Dance Debacle” (Nov. 16). The demise of the Southern California Theatre Assn. and its dance presentation in L.A. is certainly a sad and serious situation.
The bottom line here in L.A. is that yes, we need to build a larger dance audience; yes, it’s expensive to present dance; and yes, Jimmy Doolittle is no longer here--but what he wanted and worked so long for should not have been allowed to die because of a board that didn’t understand or share his vision.
The Music Center is a wonderful facility and we have to find a way to continue what was begun. I truthfully feel that with effort and funding we can become and should become a dance city.
