* I heartily applaud your “The VA’s Unkept Promises” editorial Nov. 12. Mention might also be made about the millions spent in our own Valley backyard for only a VA clinics building, ignoring the need for close-by emergency services.

As a disabled veteran myself, I well know that most former GIs “in pain” would not check into a private hospital unless they could pay the cost.

Under present circumstances, many attack-victim vets are in jeopardy as they try to find ways to travel another 20 minutes to the VA hospital in West Los Angeles. Minutes do make a difference!
