Sarah McLachlan had a modestly successful career going as a singer-songwriter. Then suddenly last summer she became one of pop music’s most impressive entrepreneurs by mounting the Lilith Fair, an all-woman festival tour that whipped the competition. She also turned in a new album, “Surfacing,” which will figure strongly in the Canadian’s Universal Amphitheatre show.

The UCLA Film Archive’s The Art of the Hubleys, a collection of films made by Faith Hubley, her late husband, John, and their daughter Emily, will screen at UCLA. A founding family of independent animation, the Hubleys will be represented by nine shorts, including the premieres of Faith Hubley’s “Beyond the Shadow Place” and Emily Hubley’s “One Self: Fish/Girl.” (See Screening Room, Page 24.)

Anyone who enjoys the four-part harmony of barbershop music can watch the world’s best chorus--Santa Fe Springs’ own Masters of Harmony--in a Christmas concert in La Mirada. The three-time international champs will be joined by other singers, including barbershop quartets and a children’s choir.

One of the most provocative artists to emerge from the drum-and-bass division of England’s dance-music world, Goldie jumps off the Jane’s Addiction tour, where he’s the opening act, to headline his own show at the Troubadour.

“Yuletidings!,” humorous stage works by Elias Stimac at the Road Theatre celebrating the winter holidays, includes “The Twelve Dates of Christmas,” a man’s search for the perfect mate; “Three Wise Guys”; and “A’Carolling,” in which three women set out to meet the men of their dreams. Host for the evening: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
