New Sears Outlet to Home In on Decorators

Reuters

Sears, Roebuck & Co. said it will open a store for do-it-yourself home decorators called Great Indoors in February near Denver. The store is one of two outlets the company will open next year to test the market. It is part of a push by Sears to grab a bigger piece of the huge, fragmented home services business. The site of the second store has not been announced. The store will cater to customers who are remodeling or redecorating kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and “great rooms,” which combine a living room with a kitchen in a large, open area. Sears said it will target wealthy as well as modest-income shoppers.
