Event Set for Mother, Son Killed in Fall
The Moorpark Unified School District is planning a dedication ceremony in honor of a Moorpark mother and her autistic son, who both died in a mysterious fall off a freeway bridge nearly four months ago.
The dedication ceremony Dec. 13 at 240 Flory Ave. will include a tree-planting session and a plaque dedication in memory of 29-year-old Jacqueline Bickmann and her 4-year-old son, Garett.
The ceremony starts 10 a.m. at Flory School’s Early Childhood Center, where Garett attended preschool.
Law enforcement officials on Aug. 6 found the mother and son near the bank of a stream more than 100 feet below the bridge connector between the Moorpark and Ronald Reagan freeways. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department has not yet ruled out whether the falls from the bridge occurred by accident or suicide.
For more information, call Moorpark Unified at (805) 378-6300.
