Jackson Leads OCC to Victory Over El Camino

Shaun Jackson led all scorers with 24 points and had eight rebounds to lead Orange Coast to a 71-55 nonconference men’s basketball victory over El Camino Wednesday at Orange Coast.

Jackson made eight of 15 from the field to lead the Pirates, who shot 54% from the field in the first half to take a 32-24 lead at the break. Chris Candlish was the only other player in double figures for the Pirates (3-1) with 13 points. Brady Clark led Orange Coast in rebounding with nine.

In other nonconference men’s basketball:

Fullerton 82, Southwestern 71--Matt Halverson scored 25 points in a victory for Fullerton (4-2). Ben Sanders scored 23 points for the Hornets.

Grossmont 84, Golden West 76--Danny English scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds in the victory for Grossmont (3-2). Gysen Jones had 17 points for Grossmont.

Mark Perry led Golden West (0-4) with 18 points and teammate Todd Jones scored 13 points and had eight rebounds.

In the Citrus men’s basketball tournament:

Mt. San Antonio 93, Santa Ana 86--Lohnnie Tape scored 33 points in the first-round loss for Santa Ana (0-4). Teammate Mark Saukkola scored 16 points.

Leonard Hooks led Mt. San Antonio (3-3) with 23 points. Teammate Ricardo Watkins had 16.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Saddleback 65, Los Angeles Trade Tech 51--Miranda Wilkinson scored 21 points and had nine rebounds in a victory for Saddleback, which led by as many as 19. Erin Edmiston, Hayley Hall and Erica Ramirez each scored 11 points for the Gauchos (2-3). Hall also grabbed 11 rebounds.

San Diego Mesa 65, Cypress 53--Stephanie Durrett scored 24 points in the loss for Cypress (3-2). Karen Shielke led San Diego Mesa (5-3) with 16 points.
