Turf Festival Highlights Hollywood Park Weekend

After a modest start today--the $90,000 Waya Handicap--the Thanksgiving weekend swings into high gear at Hollywood Park, where the three-day turf festival will offer $2.15 million in purses.

Friday’s features are a pair of $200,000 races, the Miesque and the Hollywood Turf Express. The $300,000 Citation Handicap and the $250,000 Generous Stakes will be run Saturday, followed by Sunday’s $700,000 Matriarch and the $500,000 Crown Royal Hollywood Derby.

First post today is 11 a.m. Racing begins at 12:30 p.m. the three other days. In the Waya, Ecoute, a French filly who has won one of three starts in the U.S., will carry high weight of 118 pounds.
