Los Angeles Loyola (11-0) vs. Esperanza (9-2)
7:30 TONIGHT
VALENCIA HIGH
For those who like it when teams line up and try to beat each other into submission, this will be that kind of game. Quarterback Grant Wagner has enjoyed a big passing year, but the Aztecs would much rather let their large offensive line open holes for Brent Garrison and Jamie Smith. Unbeaten Loyola is of a similar philosophy: The big boys up front break down the defensive walls and let running backs Stephen Faulk and Wesley Willard--who combined for 263 yards against Long Beach Millikan--run free. Esperanza’s victory over Mission Viejo was its first in the playoffs since 1992.
Loyola
RB Stephen Faulk 835 yds., 10 TDs
QB Chris Peterson 65-117, 864 yds., 9 TDs
RB Wesley Willard 1,058 yds., 10 TDs
Esperanza
RB Brent Garrison 1,140 yds., 6 TDs
RB Jamie Smith 706 yds., 14 TDs
QB Grant Wagner 2,009 yds., 17 TDs
