A free fishing derby will be held today in Hollenbeck Park to celebrate the reopening of Hollenbeck Lake, which had been closed for four years for repairs.
About 800 trout will be released in the refilled lake and children will be taught how to fish in the event sponsored by City Councilman Richard Alatorre, the state Fish and Game Department and the city Recreation and Parks Department.
The fishing derby and workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park at 4th and St. Louis streets.
